Small vacations...

Last weekend was the start of a series of four day weekends for me. Technically, I guess I started with two three-day weekends at the beginning of the month, and now two four-day weekends, and finally an extended Labor Day weekend. We have not had any big plans for the summer vacation-wise, and Brad had six full weeks of travel that we had to plan around, so it made sense for me to have a series of four-day weekends to have a little family time this summer. Last weekend, I had big plans to get the boys to the Seattle Art Museum, but I had a looming deadline at work that prevented me from getting too far away from my computer on Thursday. But by Friday, I realized that I got all that I could do completed and the rest would have to wait until Monday.  Seattle Art Museum didn't happen, but instead we went to the Experience Music Project at Seattle Center on Friday and followed up our day with an early dinner at El Puerco Lloron, our favorite cantina-style Mexican restaurant. Not a bad day. Saturday was crazy and started with me driving to Portland for a photo session with the cutest little three year old girl I've ever met, which included a lovely lunch and time with her awesome parents, one of which is a co-worker of mine. Then I drove back to Olympia and hopped into the passenger seat with family in tow and drove to Seattle again for the Seahawks v. Packers game that night. We were able to share seats with my brother in-law Woody and his girlfriend Sandy. What a great night. No idea who won...yes, I'm one of those gals. But, as much as I despise the whole industry of big-time sports, I can't deny the energy of a football game. That, I do enjoy. Sunday was low-key and a great start to another short work week for me. Here are some photos from that weekend: [slideshow]
